Todd Walker, Photographs
The Friends of Photography (Untitled 38), 1985, 48 pages
ISBN 0-933286-42-2
After working for over 20 years as a commercial photographer, Todd Walker became interested in alternative processes and print manipulation. He left commercial photography behind and concentrated on the artistic aspects of photography, working in a wide variety of styles and constantly experimenting with new techniques.
His prints are radically different from traditional photographs, but he doesn't really have a signature style. His early artistic work focused on the female nude, but later work added plant forms, architectural studies, and landscapes.
The photographs featured in this book are all printed in color. Walker, who had previously self-published several smaller books, was intimately involved in the creation of this book, serving as both the book designer and the director of production.
Julia K. Nelson provides an Introduction that examines Walker's artistic career in detail.
The bizarre and unusual images in this book won't be to everyone's taste, but anyone curious about experimental photography should find this book interesting.
