Edited by Peter C. Bunnell and David Featherstone
The Friends of Photography (Untitled 41), 1986, 142 pages
ISBN 0-933286-44-9

This book of nine essays on Edward Weston was published to mark the 100th anniversary of his birth. Each essay is prefaced by one of Weston's photographs, printed full page, and some of the essays also include smaller images as illustrations, but the book's content is mostly text.

The essays cover many diverse aspects of Weston's life and work, and will be of interest to anyone seeking a better understanding of the photographer. Many of the essays include useful notes.

The essays are well-written, easy to read, and each one is short enough to be read in one sitting. Contributors include Robert Adams, Amy Conger, Andy Grundberg, Therese Thau Heyman, Estelle Jussim, Alan Trachtenberg, Paul Vanderbilt, Mike Weaver, and Charis Wilson.

All of these essays were commissioned in 1985 specifically for this book, so they also served as a review and reappraisal of previously published writings about Weston.

This book is highly recommended for anyone interested in Edward Weston.
