Picture of the Week
A once-a-week look back at some of my favorite photos.
First Photograph (Aug 1972)
One of my high school classmates rides her bike on the track at Bethany College's football field.
This was one of the first photographs I took with my first "real" camera, the Russian-made Zenit-E 35mm SLR (specifically, it was frame #2 of roll #1). I had yet to learn how to develop my own film, so I took this roll of Kodak Tri-X to the drugstore to be developed and printed.
I was using a Pre-Set Helios lens, which meant that I had to manually close the lens aperture down before shooting the picture. So I had to manually focus on her as she rode towards me with the lens stopped down to probably f/8. It's a reasonably sharp photo with decent composition... not bad for a high school kid who had no real idea of what he was doing!
This digital image was obtained by copying the original 35mm negative.
